Could she give hime a second chance where they are themselves, loyal daughter and sister Sophie and hard working and carling Ned? Can these two find love in their truth?

I truly enjoyed this novella, Mimi has a wonderful why of entwining history into her story and creating characters that you can root for. I loved both Sophie and Ned and found them both to be solid charatures working on themselves and their futures, while trying to make love happen as best they knew how. The infusion of truthful speak was wonderful in a genre where miscommunications and folly often run the story.

I highly recommend, this book and I myself will be going to pick up more of Mimi’s work! A Holiday By Gaslight by Mimi Matthews was released November 13, 2018.

Characters that are developed and graphics you, quick flowing plots to move the story and an ending to delight! As a duke, Matthew believes he should be able to marry anyone he decides on… and he decides that the perfect bride to fit into his unconventional life is his neighbour, Sarah. Since Sarah has never even met Mathew before his proposal, she decides that a courtship is needed before she make up her mind! I was was immediately invested in the non-traditional courtship between nearly on the shelf Sarah, and her reclusive duke for a neighbour Matthew. The determination and genuine personalities of both characters carries this book off effortlessly and would leave me wanting for more if the story had not been finished up so neatly! As a series fan I was so happy to see Francis and George finally get married and now as Mr. and Mrs. Hazelton continue their detective work. These two are the ideal Victorian era couple goals. They easily work together on mutual goals and know how to play up each other’s strengths, while compensating for any weaknesses. They are definitely better together!
