Along Came a Lady

Along Came a Lady All the Duke’s Sins, Book 1 by Christi Caldwell ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Working class Rafe Audley was absolutely perfect in Along Came a Lady, Christi Caldwell’s reverse Pygmalion tale! Miss Edwina Dalrymple strolls into Rafe’s coal mining operation all sunshine and brightness looking for the man she’s going to transform and bring home to his father in London… her lightness creates the ultimate contrast to Rafe’s dark and brooding personality.  These two are so similar in many ways, but butt heads the whole time as they war over Edwina’s mission to get him to London. As they battle and then work together, they come around to see that there is so much more to the other than meets the eye! This romance had everything I expect from a Christi Caldwell book- dark heroes, working class characters, gritty/ realistic historical settings and hot and passionate romance! Sometimes a Pygmalion story can run flat for me- I’m not a fan of makeovers changing peoples’ lives- but this r

This wounded war vet has scars on the outside and on his poor heart! Daniel is shunned and only accepted by his peers due to his rank, until Margery steps in and sees the beauty of his true self. Daniel is looking for a bride to secure his succession, and due to his circumstances, no love match needed for this wounded soul. I loved seeing Margery heal Daniel’s heart and Daniel become a Duke worth fighting for by Margery! Truly another beautiful love ma

I was eagerly waiting for this, The Highlanders Pirate Lass, the second book in the Brothers of Wolfe Isle series since I devoured the first book last October!! And it did not disappoint! Hitched to the Gunslinger

Hitched to the Gunslinger by Michelle McLean ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Retired gunfighter plus spirited spinster equals a match in cowboy heaven! In Hitched to theGunslinger by Michelle McLean, a retired gun slinger, Grey “Quick Shot” Woodson stumbles upon the town of Desolation in his search for a place to hang up his guns and nap… too bad for him , at the same time he steps into the middle Mercy land feud and finds himself with a fake fiancée! Grey agrees to stay and help Mercy and soon their fake engagement becomes all too real as the threats to boy of them heat up! This was a fun book! I found myself laughing multiple times at Grey’s curmudgeonly antics. Also, when the romance between our two lost souls kicks into gear, it gets pretty hot! These two were meant for each other- both alone I. The world and not feeling deserving of love and companionship. It was so sweet to see them find a sense of home and belonging together. I think my favourite part of the book was the creation of the c

The Siren

The Siren by Katherine St. John ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Author Katherine St. John is back with her follow release after Lion’s Den and she is delivery the layered story telling you have come to expect with all the angst and dram build up we thriller readers crave! Set on a private resort in a tropical island being used to film the movie, also titled The Siren, this books centres around three women interconnected by the film and unforeseen incidences from their pasts… We have the movie producer, Taylor, a washed up starlet, Stella and her personal assistant, Felicity. As film starts to roll the drama starts both onset and off, and but the time tropical storm Eva starts to hit the island, she is not the on tempest brewing! This was a great read that unfolded layer by layer as the story is told through news and social media release and in the three women voices in present time and through flashbacks. St. John is adept at building up the drama, so much so, that by the end chapters I was on th

The Merchant and the Rogue

Luckily Brogan meets Russian immigrant, Vera Sorokina on his investigation. She becomes his greatest ally and partner… that is until his lies come to the forefront. As alway, Sarah M. Eden delivers a truly captivating romantic mystery!  Like the other books of the series, there are 2 penny dreadful stories woven into the book that mirror/ add to the plot! Included in the this book was The Merchant and the Rogue by a penny dreadful favourite, Mr. King, and The Dead Zoo by character Brogan Donnelly himself. I ad

Battle Royale

Battle Royale Palace Insiders, Book #1 by Lucy Parker ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Am I a huge fan of Lucy Parker??? Yes!!! Did I love this book??? You bet!!! Lucy Parker is back with a new series and a new pair of enemies to lovers. Sylvie made an personal enemy of Dominic when her cake exploded in his face, while he was judging it on the popular Operation Cake reality show a few years ago. Fast forward to today and they are rival cake makers with shops across the street from each other and new co-workers as Sylvie joins the illustrious Operation Cake judging panel this season! To add to the drama, at the same time a royal engagement makes them rivals as they both fight for the contract of contracts! Sylvie and Dominic are both such sweethearts at their cores that their increased exposure to each other naturally opens them

A fake relationship will totally cover their tacks! And as all good fake relationships, this one starts turning all too real!  I loved Taylor and Jamar as a couple. Total #CoupleGoals ! These two are incredibly supportive of each other, they have similar interests and together they are smoking hot! Great chemistry. I really appreciated how Rochon treated Taylor’s learning disability and put it out there, maki

Follow Me Always

Follow Me Always The Follow Me series, Book 3 by Helen Hardt ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 The third book of the series picks up right where we leave Skye and Braden were left in the last instalment, with Braden pumping the breaks on their relationship and questioning Skye’s motives after she pushes him to the limit at the BDSm club.  This prompts both Skye and Braden to question themselves and the motivating factors in their lives in order to come to peace with what the other has to offer. I loved that we finally get the backstory on both of these characters. I had been waiting since book one to hear more about Skye’s family and was wondering why they were absent from the story- not even a mention of a phone call. And we finally get to the truth behind the Braden and Addie drama. So many questions were answered!!! This book, the whole series for that matter, has had be on the edge of my seat the whole time with Skye and Braden’s relationship power struggle. It was so nice to see them both step

Hollow Kingdom

Hollow Kingdom by Kira Jane Buxton ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 I don’t Usually stray from reading romance, but when I do I feel like I go pretty far! Kira Jane Buxton’s vision of a post apocalypse future really shook me. In this anti future, the human race is stuck down by a cancer-line disease that’s turning them into blood hungry monsters in need of a tech fix! Left to their own devises, nature, the animals and plants gang together to survive in this new world without people. This adventure is told from the point of view of ST, short for Shirt Turd, a plucky, wise cracking domestic crow that identifies more as a person than crow. He is assisting by his speechless companion Dennis the family bloodhound as they go about their mission trying to rescue the other domestics that have been loved indoors after their owners perished. This story made me laugh (ST’s sarcasm is awesome), think and cry. I haven’t read a book that made me appreciate the human condition so much. If you’re interested in a

The Highlander’s Irish Bride

The Highlander’s Irish Bride  Clan Kendrick, Book #4 by Vanessa Kelly ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Now that was an epic adventure! This tale starts with in London heads off to Glasgow, then to the highlands… all the while starting scandals, wrangling lovesick little sisters, skirting kidnapping, fighting highwayman and finding love! This was a slow burn romance- but all the action and activities kept me distracted until our highlander and Irish lass finally succumb to their attraction! Fans of the Clan Kendrick series will be pleased with most of the Kendricks making appearances and especially everyone’s favourite kooky grandpa, Angus! It was was also really nice to see Grant find resolution to past tragedies and find his HEA with Kathleen instead of focusing on taking care of the family clan always. This was a fun and adventurous read - great for fans of the Kendriks or as introduction to this wild clan! The Highlander’s English Bride by Vanessa Kelly was release July 26th, 2021. I received a complimentar
