A Summer to Remember

A Summer to Remember by Erika Mongomery ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 This is a perfect beach read for the summer of 2021! Through a mix of modern day interactions and flashbacks to a Hollywood golden times Erika tells the story of Frankie, a Hollywood memorabilia dealer as she tries to answer questions about her mothers life before she was born. When a mystery package arrives showing a connection for her mother on the East coast, Frankie is prompted to attend the Stardust Film Festival, where she finds a family heavily intertwined with her mother’s past in Cape Cod. I loved the back and forth story telling through the different characters point of view. The mystery unravels itself as the characters open up to each other and their relationships intensify. The story and romance in this book absolutely captured me and I didn’t put this book down until it was done. I adored the story and the characters debut author, Erika Mongomery has created here. She not only transported me to the Stardust Film

The Wisteria Society for Lady Scoundrels

The Wisteria Society for Lady Scoundrels By India Holton ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Once I got the hang of this topsy-turvy world, I was captivated! Picture this- Victorian England is a place where the ladies are the leaders and pirating ladies are the not so heroic heroes of the time. Now, ad in magic spells and flying houses instead of ships! This book was a hoot! Between the extreme manners these lady pirates insist upon, to the shenanigans they get up to on a daily basis, I didn’t know what would happen next and I loved it! I also really enjoyed how the love story between our young lady porte and her would-be assassin is woven into the plot a a way that mirrors the same dilemma for other historical romance heroines: submit to love and loose your freedom and dreams, or live a life without and realize your destiny. Yes she finds her own way, but it was neat to see that even in this world where females take no prisoners, they can be subjected to the same restraints from that result from marria

My Contrary Mary

My Contrary Mary Voice Galley by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, & Jodi Meadows ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 What a fun treat to be back in the world of Verities and Eðians (shapeshifters)that readers were introduced to in My Lady Jane! In this re-telling of the story of Mary Queen of Scots, we are shown her life at court in France where she awaits to be married to her betrothed, the France Dauphin, Francis. Both Mary and Francy are nearly pawns in their elders plans, but they yearn for a time when they will be able to rule together and make a difference to their respective kingdoms.  Like the other Janite books before this, magic and comedy play a big role and make this story a lot of fun. The comedic references to modern movies were such a hoot to spot and decipher what movie they were from! This book went at a relatively quick pace and followed our teenage royalty as they attempt to find a way to rule in a divided world. The Verities and Eðians seem like a good representation of the Catholi
