It Started With Christmas

By Jenny Hale There is nothing I love more than a relationship that blooms out of snowstorm induced seclusion! Holly is trying to give her a test of Christmas’s of old when they venture late in the night to their old cabin outside if Nashville. They re lucky to get there with the weather turning so quickly! Good thing they don’t have plans to go anywhere once they get there… Joe was done his lease of the cabin and due back in New York when he is awoken by the late night arrival of Holly and Nana… looks like all three of them will be sharing Christmas together in the snowed in cabin! I loved the immediate spark between Joe and Holly and I also really enjoyed how respectful of each other and their personal situations. Holly and Joe definitely bring out the best in each other as they work together on Joe’s “project”. The local denizens of this cozy rustic haven add even more delight to the story. They really make you long for some sweet potato pie and the comforts of a small t

An Affair By Christmas

By Eloisa James Hmmm… this was a tough one for me… Poppy’s character starts out so whinny and unlikeable after the prologue that it is hard to get over. She can’t really be blamed with a mother like hers. Still, you can’t help but feel for Fletcher and his robotic wife.  I Once I was finished this book and thought about it, I felt there were a lot of similarities between North and Diana from Too Wilde to Wed… If you have read both, let me know your thoughts on this! My favourite part of the story was the side side story of the Duke of Villiers and Charlotte Tatlock. I loved their chirpy banter and the way they made each other stornger. (If you haven’t already, Eloisa James has an extra chapter with Charlottes HEA on her website! Check it out- it was just what I wanted to tie up the end of this story). Overall, I enjoyed this book, as I enjoy all of Eloisa James’s books… was it my favourite- no. I think the heroine was just not enough for me, but the side stories and char

The Forgotten Duke

Diamonds In The Rough, Book 5 by Sophie Barnes The Scoundrel of St. Giles, Carlton Guthrie has had to work his way up from nothing and has always held tight to his street morals… He has been toiling for a very long time to get his perfect revenge… until the answer to his dilemma runs straight into him! Lady Regina needs to take control of her own destiny before her father marries her off to better situate himself. Without any options, she takes her feet to the street and runs… and ends up in the arms of one of London’s most notorious criminal scoundrels, Mr Guthrie! Is she safer with this renowned rake and outlaw than her own father? This is the Story of Carlton Guthrie’s redemption that I didn’t know I needed! He never appealed to me in the past books of this series, but phew, he surpasses all the other dukes in my books now! I adored learning of his background and seeing how he treated his people. In the past books he was not always sketched in the best of lights, bu

We Met in December

by Rosie Curtis “ Two people. One house. A year that changes everything.” … Too bad there wasn’t just two people in the house, it would have saved Jess and Alex some time and trouble! I digress, I really enjoyed this story and liked how it was told in the timeframe over a year. The switching between Jess and Alex’s points of view was done well and the story flowed nicely. Jess is almost thirty and has given up a steady job in her hometown to follow her dream and work in publishing in London. Alex has give up a lucrative career (and fiancee) to changes careers and become a nurse. Both strapped for cash when a metal friend invites them to live in their house share in posh Notting Hill. Along with Becca, Emma Rob, they will learn the ropes of their new lives together over the course of a London year. This was really sweet and a fun holiday read. It provided all the feels! We Met in December by Rosie Curtis was released November 5th, 2019. Opinions expressed in t
