The Marquess Makes His Move

The Marquess Makes His Move A Clandestine Affairs Novel, Book #3 by Diana Quincy ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 “From now on, I shall dress as I please. I am done muting myself, my person, my abilities, in order to make a man more comfortable.” The Marquess Makes his Move is Diana Quincy’s third book in her Clandestine Affairs series. This book finally tells us the story of the elusive Lord Brandon, whom we’ve only had brief glimpses of in the previous books thus far. I’ve been looking forward to Brandon’s book since we first met him and I was not disappointed! From his reclusive tendencies, to his creative problem solving schemes and his huge heart, I couldn’t get enough of him. His story starts out with him taking on the role of footman in Mrs. Fleming‘s home in order to investigate her mapmaking husband’s business. Brandon believes that Mr. Fleming has defrauded him of his property in one of his maps and by being a footman in his home he will be able to find the evidence. On a side- Brandon i

White Knight Needed

White Knight Needed Reluctant Heroes, Book 2 by Betina Krahn ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Barclay Howard is bigger and burlier than your average gentleman… and thus he has found himself to be somewhat of an antidote to the fairer sex. As a result he is more often found behind the pages of his Ivanhoe novel than out and about attempting to court a fair lady. But when his path crosses with down on her luck Norah Capshaw, his white knight complex rises up to make him go above and beyond again and again to be her hero… even though she is incredibly reluctant to the idea! This was a fun adventure romance filled with roadside hijinks, and a family mystery. Barclay was a perfect hero in this book. He was always there offering support and rescue to Norah. On the other side Norah’s resistance of Barclay and his efforts was the only wet blanket on this otherwise delightfully sweet romance!   Overall, this is my second Betina Kran book and I find her writing very light hearted and action packed. The Tsarina's Daughter

The Tsarina's Daughter by Ellen Alpsten 🎧Narrated by Anna Krippa ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Ellen Alpsten’s The Tsarina’s Daughter tells the epic and sweeping fictionalized life story of Elizaveta, the daughter of Catherine I and Peter the Great. I listened to the audiobook and found myself swept away in a would that felt more like science function than history. The extremes depicted from Russian court life to that of those out of favour blew me away. Alpsten’s descriptions brought the beauty and grotesque ways of life in historical Russia alive. Elizaveta’s hardships build upon each other and I was shocked by the ability for her situation to continue to deteriorate and her strength to continue forward. This style of fictionalized history about women is one of my favourite thins to read. I love the history that is shared and the beautiful storytelling that brings these historical figures to life. I should note, that I did not realize that this was the second book in a series when I st

Kamila Knows Best

Kamila Knows Best  by Farah Heron 🎧Narrated by Soneela Nankani ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Jane Austen novels were the gateway to my love of romance! Kamila lives with her father and works for his accounting firm. She loves her dog, planning parties and setting up her friends. But she is so much more!!! She takes care of her father, she volunteers, she is always going above and beyond for those she loves… including her family fried, Rohan. She’s known Rohan’s since she’s been a child… he’s one of the most comforting presences in her and her father’s lives… what will she do if he gets together with her old frienamy who’s back in town??? I absolutely loved matching up the characters with their Emma counterparts. I had a few moments of surprise… that I kicked myself over later when I compared it to the original. This was an impressive retelling. Farah has brought Emma to modern time but has kept all the parts that make it great. I think the placement of the characters within the Muslim culture re

I hope not! I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, but that’s how the hilarious and cringe worthy meet-cute goes in this fun romcom! A Brush with Love

A Brush with Love by Mazey Eddings 🎧Narrated by Emily Lawrence; Vikas Adam ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 There is always something that stands out the most in a book, and for me in A Brush with Love I was really moved by the emotional elements author Mazey Eddings included and the way she portrayed them. First off, Harper and Dan are adorable and they made a perfect couple. They complimented the other in all the ways I love to see and created a very balanced pairing. And the mutual pinning for each other was delicious! The females in STEM rep was excellent- I loved that Harper was the person in power in regards to experience and expertise in their field. I also appreciated the reality of females in a male dominated system- it’s not pretty- but it’s true, and needs to be shown to give a realistic portrayal. Harper’s character struggles with anxiety and a compulsive need to succeed. Mazey tackles this in a way that allows the reader to feel the panic a ratchet up with her creating an understand

The Lady Tempts the Heir

The Lady Tempts the Heir The Gilded Age Heiresses, Book #3 by Harper St. George ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5  Max Crenshaw has been summoned back to England for the third time… in the past it was over drama with his sisters and his parents matchmaking schemes… now his father is ill and has his sights set on his legacy. It’s Max’s turn to marry! But Max isn’t going to just heed his father’s demands- he’s his own man and it’s a modern (Gilded) age! Solution: he will find a fake fiancée to cease his threats. His sisters friend, whom he had a shared experience with, the widowed Lady Helena March would be perfect! Just what his father wants and bonus-she’s not interested in marriage either! Ah, the old fake engagement! I suggest choosing someone you don’t actually like if you don’t want to end up married for real in the end! I jest! Max and Helena make a perfect pairing… so perfect the only thing that seems to be keeping them from actually being engaged in truth is the long distanced nature of thei
