The Bachelor (Chapter 1)

by Sabrina Jeffries < First chapter review - not whole book > After reading the first book in the Duke Dynasty (Project Duchess) I was stoked to continue reading about this fascinating family! I received a first chapter teaser and it definitely did that! I had forgotten it wasn’t the whole book and got myself quite engrossed in the story by the end of the first chapter! If I had had the whole book,, I could have read late into the night… oh well! Absence makes the heart grow fonder and I will eagerly be awaiting The Bachalor’s February 2020 release! Chapter synopsis: Heiress Lady Gwyn Drake is keeping a secret from her family, one that has left her unmarried at the ripe age of 30. All is going well until her family decides to give her a. London season… Just when she thinks that is enough of to contend with at the moment, her former suiters and her secret come out of the woodwork with an eye to blackmail Lady Gwen! Thankfully the handsome and illusive gamekeeper i

Night of the Scoundrel

by Kelly Bowen The Alpha hero has a heart!  After seeing King, lord of London’s underworld pop up throughout the Devils of Dover series and cause trouble for our heroes and heroines, its nice to see his backstory. King rules with an iron fist and lets no one in his inner circle. When you trust, that’s when you are the weakest… Miss Adeline Archarbault is not a stranger to loss and feeling powerless. Now a highly skilled vengeance maker, perhaps she can help King find the solace he needs and thaw his frozen heart… This was a fast paced novella that grabs you from the beginning. I love a good story of the heartless badboy finding redemption and love, and King is the poster boy! This was an enjoyable read and has inspired me to look beeping in Kelly Bowen’s backlist to find the story of Kings friend Ashland! (A Duke to Remember). I like how this novella wraps up the Devils of Dover series by tying up this last characters loose end. Night of the Scoundrel by Kelly Bowe

The Duke’s Stolen Bride

By Sophie Jordan When I first picked up this book, I had no clue what I was in for… I had read the rest of the series and could’t place these characters within that framework. Shortly after starting the book, Sophie explains that Marian is the Duke of Autenberry’s sisters former governess turned companion, turn hopeful courtesan! Thats a mouthful! She had quit her post with Lady Clara when her father became ill. He has now passed away and its up to Marian to keep the family solvent without selling her soul/ freedom away in an unwanted marriage. What better solution that become a top notch courtesan and be able to name your price and keep. Your autonomy. Now, one does not just become a high priced courtesan out of the blue… especially not a virgin! This is where the Depraved Duke, otherwise known as the Duke of Warrington steps in. He will train Marian in the art of seduction without taking her virginity and then she will set to save her family… I’m sure this will go perfectl

Eyes On

by Esme Brett You know you have read a great novella when you finish reading and you feel happy tingles and when the characters leave you completely satisfied while still wanting more! 🖤 The lovely Esme Brett has written a novella that delivers just that! I read Eyes On the other day and it left me with a goofy smile on my face!  I’m not a huge fan of contemporary romance... Often I find the character lacking… I feel like I should be able to relate more than I do. I’m not saying my life mirrors Greta or Francis, but their experiences made them human and real. I wanted to relate to them. Perhaps a younger single me does relate to them… A quick synopsis, without giving too much away: Greta is at a party for her friends birthday. Strippers have been hired to interact with the inner circle of friends… the one left for Greta does not find her attractive. In comes, bar owner/ entertainment mogul Francis. He definitely finds Great attractive and is willing to prove it to her!
