Scot Under the Covers

Book Review Scot Under the Covers  by Suzanne Enoch ⭐⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐  /5 This is the second book in The Wild Wicked Highlanders series, that follows the MacTaggert brothers as they attempt to find English wives as decreed by their mother. (Don’t ask why… ok, ok! They need their mama to keep paying the bills, so they can keep their Scottish keep 😉 afloat)  Aden MacTaggert is the second son. He’s tall, dark.. haired and is pretty handy with a wager. Inspired by his brothers recent love match, he’s looking for an English lass that has more than giggles to offer. Miranda Harris is the sister of Aden’s fiancee, and she is definitely not interested in any man who gambles… Aden likes Miranda, he’s down in by her frankness and direct speech, Miranda loathes Aden… until she needs him. This isn’t really an an enemies to lovers story… more like a circumstance has created sting bedfellows… literally. I enjoyed that each of the characters grew and developed as they worked toge

Love Her or Lose Her

Book Review Love Her or Lose Her   by Tessa Bailey ⭐⭐ .5 /5 … I’ll start this by saying that I liked this more that the first book in the series, Fix Her Up (I REALLY don’t like the idea of a makeover making a girl date-able)… Rosie and Dominic Vega are at a crisis point in their marriage. Rosie is tired of living like roommates who have a scheduled bang night once a week… I don’t blame her but a girl has to raise her voice and start asking for what she needs in her relationship/ life. Nobody is a mind-reader!?! Then you have Dom… he believes that if he just keeps his head down works himself to the bone everyday (but shows up for bang night) the life will go smoothly. He has returned from war a few years ago and after hanging out with all of his affluent army buddies, he doesn’t feel he measures up or can provide the quality of life Rosie deserves… solution stop talking to her and just work more. Ugh. Both of these characters had had major flaws. Dom was an idiot

Never Kiss a Duke

Book Review Never Kiss a Duke By Megan Frampton ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 What is a duke to do when he no longer is a duke??? Sebastian has just been informed that his whole life is a lie... he is no longer the Duke (that’s now his cousin) and he is a bastard. Learning that this is all due to his mother’s manipulations he vows to not accept the charity of friends and family and to man something of himself in his own... Ivy has had the luck of the cards determine her fate from day one. First her father gambles away her freedom and then with another game she wins her freedom! Gambling is her destiny, so why not embrace it and open her own gaming club???  Sebastian and Ivy come together after the moping former Duke comes to her club to forget his change in circumstances for a night... there’s immediate sparks ✨ until Sebastian opens his formerly privileged mouth and almost runs off her customers!! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Can he make it up to her (and make himself into a new man) with his

Her Scandalous Pursuit

by Candace Camp Her Scandalous Pursuit is a prequel to the epic The Mad Morelands series (6 books). I had not read any of the series so far… thus this was a perfect place to start!  Thisbe Moreland is the eldest daughter of the Duke of Boroughton’s seven children, all eccentric in their own ways. Thisbe has devoted herself to the pursuit of science and chemistry. She not one to shy away from a scientific challenge, and no better than the laws of attraction! Desmond Harrison is shocked to find such a stunning creature at a the scientific lecture, not only that, she’s incredible smart and interested in him! Too bad as he soon finds out that opposites really do attract since he is a lowly mister with nothing to his name and the love of his life turns out to be the daughter of a duke! And as these star-crossed lovebirds attempt to come together fate places another obstacle/ mystery in their path. A powerful antiquity known as the Eye of Annie Blue us needs by Desmonds emplo

The Austen Playbook

By Lucy Parker This series has not disappointed me yet! Lucy Parker’s London Celebrities series has delivered one fun read after the next… Another great enemies to lovers story in the high-flying world of London’s theatre elite. Freddy Carlton, (originally seen on stage in Pretty Face, book 2) is making a change in her career. After following in her father and grandmothers serious theatrical careers, she is going to get back to musical theatre, where she finds her joy. Only she needs to prove that she can still do that… that’s where the live -action TV event performance of The Austen Playbook comes in to play. Too bad the production will be taking place at the ancestral home of the highly critical critic, James Ford-Griffin. Griff has enough to worry about trying to rescue his family finances from the brink… The Austen Playbook needs to succeed, in order for him to get the profits needed to save his home. The last thing he needs is a perpetually optimistic actress joini

Get A Life, Chloe Brown

by Talia Hibert My first read of 2020 and this was a true delight!  I hadn’t been expecting too much from Chloe’s bucket list, but it pull at my heart in more ways than one. When the book began, Chloe had the potential to be terrible, but that was only her survival instinct coming out. I personally can not imagine a life with debilitating pain/ fatigue, but chronic fatigue syndrome is real and truly diminishes the standard of living for those suffering. Chloe is strong and admirable. She deserved her HEA and it brought tears to my eyes when she realized it for herself. Red… what can I say about Red ❤️❤️❤️ … he is not without his own flaws, but he is the man you want around. Caring, understanding… empathetic, sexy as hell. He was amazing. His interactions with Chloe were a true delight. This book is a must read- to garner empathy for those with issues that we can not see on the outside and for the amazing love story too.  Side note- I listened to the audiobook for

New Years Resolutions...

It's been a while since I posted a review... Over the Christmas holidays my mothers' long-term illness took a turn for the worse. We had a week at that point and then she left us. This didn't come as a total shock, she had been diagnosed with stage 3 COPD over a year and a half ago and he'd been in a decline ever since. I love the holidays. All the activities and family events have always been my crack. I busted my ass this year creating a sense of normalcy for my kids/family. And the end result was I became exhausted, sure I still read, mainly audiobooks, but I didn't have the focus. My mom and family enveloped my world there for a few weeks... and that was ok. But now I have to reclaim my own self and reading and the. book community is a huge part of that. My personal joy. ... 2020 Review more! I was in a habit of only reviewing my ARC's, but I need to commit to reviewing all my reads, weather is a quick few note or more in-depth. I want to improve my c
