How to Cross a Marquess (The Way to a Lord's Heart #3)

by

Lady Fenella Fairclough and the Marquess of Chatton were childhood acquaintances when their fathers decided to force them into a marriage. Being young and stubborn they rejected each other and the idea of a marriage between them. After five years, time spent in Scotland, a marriag, widowhood and ailing parents, thees two are forced back into each others company. They have grown up and now see the other for their true worth… it it not too late for them to find happiness together? Perhaps with a little help they will make it work this time!

This is Jane Ashford’s third instalment in The Way to a Lord’s Heart series. I read the second book, A Lord Apart and this past April. Though this is part of a series, and it was nice having the background knowledge from the other book I had read, this book can stand alone. One major highlight of the series and the connecting factor is the delightful Lord Mackin, who is trying to help his band heartsore lords find love and happiness.

I enjoyed this book of second chances and forgiveness. I found that the characters had won and developed into people who truly deserved to find happiness together.

How to Cross a Marquess by Jane Ashford is due to release August 27th, 2019.

The Art of Taxidermy

by    Sharon Kernot I didn’t know what I was getting when I picked out this book. When I first opened this book and started to read, I was pleasantly surprised. The author, has written this novel in verse and the flow of the writing really goes with and helps tell the story. The Art of Taxidermy tells a gripping and emotional story about love of family and great loss. The themes are woven through the coming of age of young Lottie, along with her immigrant family in Australia after the second world war. I was taken in by this book from the first page and was made to feel deeply for Lottie and this family. Sharon Kernot has written a beautiful book and I can not highly recommend it enough. This is a must read. The Art of Taxidermy by Sharon Kernot is due to release August 23rd, 2019. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Text Publishing Company through NetGalley. Undercover Duke

Undercover Duke Duke Dynasty, Book 4 by Sabrina Jeffries ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 In the last book of the Duke Dynasty series, we start to heavily get into the mystery of the deceased husbands of the family matriarch, the Dowager Duchess. In Undercover Duke we are in full blown mystery mode! Sheridan has been heavily affected by the strange deaths within his family and he is taking the lead to get to the bottom if it… too bad that his investigation is going to make his get pretty cozy with the frivolous Vanessa, his brother’s cousin, in order to find out what her mother can tell them about some key events in the mystery timeframe. Vanessa Pryde doesn’t know why Sheridan is finally paying attention to her, but she will do anything to keep it up! She has loved him since they met, but the feelings has seemed completely one sided until now. Using the idea that she is trying to get another suiters up to scruff, she and Sheridan hatch a deal to start a fake courtship… Soon the lines between fake

The Outlaw's Daughter

The Outlaw’s Daughter Haywire Bride Series #3 by Margaret Brownley ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 A year old stage robbery has brought Texas Ranger, Matt Taggert to the small town of Haywire. While investigating his lead he he discovers that his prime suspect died just days after the stage coach robbery and is the tow’s local hero… not only that, he has left behind a beautiful widow and 2 children. Ellie-May is no stranger to public scorn, as the daughter of an outlaw , she knows what the Rangers accusations against her deceased husband will do to her family and children. For the sake of her family, she will do anything to protect them and that includes keeping secrets and resisting the Rangers charms!  This was fun story. I loved how the romance also included the children because as a mother myself (happily married) I could never imagine being able to separate my love life from that of my family life. A new partner would definitely need to win over the kids along with me!  Ellie-Ma
