Eyes On

by Esme Brett

You know you have read a great novella when you finish reading and you feel happy tingles and when the characters leave you completely satisfied while still wanting more!đź–¤

The lovely Esme Brett has written a novella that delivers just that! I read Eyes On the other day and it left me with a goofy smile on my face!

I’m not a huge fan of contemporary romance... Often I find the character lacking… I feel like I should be able to relate more than I do. I’m not saying my life mirrors Greta or Francis, but their experiences made them human and real. I wanted to relate to them. Perhaps a younger single me does relate to them…

A quick synopsis, without giving too much away: Greta is at a party for her friends birthday. Strippers have been hired to interact with the inner circle of friends… the one left for Greta does not find her attractive. In comes, bar owner/ entertainment mogul Francis. He definitely finds Great attractive and is willing to prove it to her!

I’m always amazed when I finish a novella about all the nuances and information an author packs into a tiny package. When it’s done well it’s like eating a gourmet chocolate, it’s just one bite, but delicious and enough.

Eyes On by Esme Brett (@feminist_romance) is set to release November 21st - definitely check it out, I couldn’t take my eyes đź‘€ off of it!

đź–¤Thanks to Esme Brett for the ARC copy of this book.

First off, this epic second chance romance gave me pure romantic chills that were remittent to reading Jane Austen’s Persuasion. Her beautiful storytelling and detailed descriptions and character building really immersed me into this story and made me root for second chances and love! Childhood neighbours, Devlin Ware and Gwyneth Rhys never know the other felt the same attraction and pull towards the other until the stars aligned at the neighbourhood fete and they finally discover their mutual affection… but they were not mean to be young lovers, since family scandal befalls Devin and he is banished from his family home.  White no where to go and a determination to shed his innocence and become a man, he enlist in a foot regiment… and stays away at war ...

The Gunslinger’s Guide to Avoiding Matrimony

The Gunslinger’s Guide to Avoiding Matrimony By Michelle MacLean ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 The follow up to Michelle MacLean’s Hitched to the Gunslinger, The Gunslinger’s Guide to Avoiding Matrimony is finally here and the citizens of Desolation are up to more shenanigans! Running from the law retired gunslinger/gambler Adam Woodson stumbled upon the town of Desolation. His timing is perfect and he walks right into the mess groom selection/ wedding ceremony for the town and ends up married to spinster Nora. Nora hadn’t planned on picking a groom, but Adam will suit her purpose nicely- she only needs a husband long enough to inherit her property… too bad Adam has no intention of being that husband! Now the rules of Desolation state a man must marry or find a job… so Adam starts trying his hand at all the jobs, while Nora attempts to woo him to sign the marriage papers. In general this is a cute and funny premise, but Adam’s insistence that he can’t/won’t marry is too much. I felt for Nora and her inse...

The Lady Tempts the Heir

It’s Max’s turn to marry! But Max isn’t going to just heed his father’s demands- he’s his own man and it’s a modern (Gilded) age! Solution: he will find a fake fiancĂ©e to cease his threats. His sisters friend, whom he had a shared experience with, the widowed Lady Helena March would be perfect! Just what his father wants and bonus-she’s not interested in marriage either! Ah, the old fake engagement! I suggest choosing someone you don’t actually like if you don’t want to end up married for real in the end! I jest! Max and Helena make a perfect pairing… so perfect the only thing that seems to be keeping them from actually being engaged in truth is the long distanced nature of ...
