Love Her or Lose Her

Book Review

Love Her or Lose Her

by Tessa Bailey

⭐⭐.5 /5

… I’ll start this by saying that I liked this more that the first book in the series, Fix Her Up (I REALLY don’t like the idea of a makeover making a girl date-able)…

Rosie and Dominic Vega are at a crisis point in their marriage. Rosie is tired of living like roommates who have a scheduled bang night once a week… I don’t blame her but a girl has to raise her voice and start asking for what she needs in her relationship/ life. Nobody is a mind-reader!?!

Then you have Dom… he believes that if he just keeps his head down works himself to the bone everyday (but shows up for bang night) the life will go smoothly. He has returned from war a few years ago and after hanging out with all of his affluent army buddies, he doesn’t feel he measures up or can provide the quality of life Rosie deserves… solution stop talking to her and just work more.

Ugh. Both of these characters had had major flaws. Dom was an idiot, Rosie was blind.

Other than that, some other problems I (my personal opinion) had with the book was the way they glossed over Dom’s army time. The only after effect was that he was coveting the other soldiers affluent lifestyles?!?! I find that ridiculous. If he was suffering from PTSD, I would find his odd behaviour acceptable and tragic. Since he was jealous of what others were planning to do after their tours, I found it pitiful.

Beyond the plot and characters, I just don’t think Tessa Bailey writes sex scenes that are to my taste. This is just my opinion. Not my preference for the hero to be constantly “honey girl”ing the heroine… it made me want to gag.

This book, along with the previous book in the Hot & Hammered series are much loved… just not by me. On a side note, I do plan on reading the last book in the series to see how the last Castle sibling finds where HEA in the enemies to lovers plot they set up in this book.

Love Her or Lose Her by Tessa Bailey was released January 2020.

Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Remember Love

Remember Love Ravenswood series, Book 1 by Mary Balogh ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Historical romance queen, Mary Balogh introduces us to another brilliant extended family and reminds up to remember love in one swoop with this series opener! First off, this epic second chance romance gave me pure romantic chills that were remittent to reading Jane Austen’s Persuasion. Her beautiful storytelling and detailed descriptions and character building really immersed me into this story and made me root for second chances and love! Childhood neighbours, Devlin Ware and Gwyneth Rhys never know the other felt the same attraction and pull towards the other until the stars aligned at the neighbourhood fete and they finally discover their mutual affection… but they were not mean to be young lovers, since family scandal befalls Devin and he is banished from his family home.  White no where to go and a determination to shed his innocence and become a man, he enlist in a foot regiment… and stays away at war ...

White Knight Needed

White Knight Needed Reluctant Heroes, Book 2 by Betina Krahn ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Barclay Howard is bigger and burlier than your average gentleman… and thus he has found himself to be somewhat of an antidote to the fairer sex. As a result he is more often found behind the pages of his Ivanhoe novel than out and about attempting to court a fair lady. But when his path crosses with down on her luck Norah Capshaw, his white knight complex rises up to make him go above and beyond again and again to be her hero… even though she is incredibly reluctant to the idea! This was a fun adventure romance filled with roadside hijinks, and a family mystery. Barclay was a perfect hero in this book. He was always there offering support and rescue to Norah. On the other side Norah’s resistance of Barclay and his efforts was the only wet blanket on this otherwise delightfully sweet romance!   Overall, this is my second Betina Kran book and I find her writing very light hearted and action packed. A Duke for Miss Townsbridge

A Duke for Miss Townsbridge The Townsbridges, Book 4 by Sophie Barnes ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Sophie Barnes is a master at the novella! Every time I read one of her novellas, it is just perfect! Characters that are developed and graphics you, quick flowing plots to move the story and an ending to delight! As a duke, Matthew believes he should be able to marry anyone he decides on… and he decides that the perfect bride to fit into his unconventional life is his neighbour, Sarah. Since Sarah has never even met Mathew before his proposal, she decides that a courtship is needed before she make up her mind! I was was immediately invested in the non-traditional courtship between nearly on the shelf Sarah, and her reclusive duke for a neighbour Matthew. The determination and genuine personalities of both characters carries this book off effortlessly and would leave me wanting for more if the story had not been finished up so neatly! I adore a good romance novella and liken it to the perfect bite ...
