First Comes Scandal

First Comes Scandal

A Bridgerton Sequel, Rokesbys Book 4

by Julia Quinn

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5

You can’t go home again... unless you’re going home with the Bridgertons, than you can and it will be great!

I like to think of this book in two parts: 1st - the family reunion and 2nd the creation of Georgie and Nicholas Rokesby as a unified couple.

The story definitely hooked me in at the beginning with the cameos and family drama you would expect! What would a Bridgerton prequel be without a glimpse at our favourite mother, Violet Bridgerton and with growing brood! As a reader of both the Bridgerton and the prequel series, I greatly enjoyed and appreciated the familiar faces the author brought back for us to catch up with.

Throughout all the reunion time, we learn that Georgie has been ruined, but as we come to expect form our beloved Bridgertons, they would never fore her to marry the cur that ruined her. So what will Georgie do now? Here comes her godfather, Lord Manston (Nockolas’s father) to the rescue. He has the perfect plan: his son, Nicholas will marry his goddaughter, Georgie. Problem solved. BUT, they haven’t seen each other in years, they are practically brother and sister after growing you together and what ever happened to marrying for love???  After a few altercations and disagreements, we end up with the swift marriage of convenience between Georgie Bridgerton and Nicholas Rokesby. Now they must find a way to make this marriage work… and perhaps find love in the process.

Georgie and Nicholas are both the younger siblings in their families, I loved how their friendship and marriage allows both of them to come into their full potential. Their love story was fun and sweet and as usual, Julia Quinn delivers all the feels!

First Comes Scandal by Julia Quinn is scheduled to release April 21st, 2020.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Avon Romance through Edelweiss+. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

First off, this epic second chance romance gave me pure romantic chills that were remittent to reading Jane Austen’s Persuasion. Her beautiful storytelling and detailed descriptions and character building really immersed me into this story and made me root for second chances and love! A Bride's Guide to Marriage and Murder

A Bride's Guide to Marriage and Murder Countess of Harleigh Mystery, Book 5 by Dianne Freeman ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 They finally got hitched!! Fans of the Countess of Harleigh Mystery series will be happy to hear that before any murder took place Lady Harleigh and Mr Hazelton were married with all their friends and family in attendance! But there was definitely a murder mystery discovered before the end of the wedding breakfast! This was such a treat! As a series fan I was so happy to see Francis and George finally get married and now as Mr. and Mrs. Hazelton continue their detective work. These two are the ideal Victorian era couple goals. They easily work together on mutual goals and know how to play up each other’s strengths, while compensating for any weaknesses. They are definitely better together! This book has all the trappings that we come to expect in love from the series, including quirky with relatives with plenty of drama, nosey neighbours and friends and an intriguing ...

SO, all she needs I her redo working ex boyfriend back in town to add more drama to her life! With the help of the local Widows league, his agent, his best friend and a gaseous pug he will ensure that he doesn’t add to Darcy’s troubles, but lightens her load. He will be the man she needs and hopefully her future. I found Jason and the town of Sunshine Valley cute and welcoming, but Darcy was a bit of an enigma. She had a very chameleon like personality and she was trying to find her colours in this new position she has found herself in. In doing so, she pushes away from people ...
