The Virgin and the Rogue

The Virgin and the Rogue

The Rogue Files (#6)
by Sophie Jordan

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5

Let me just say- I could not put this book down! I have been enjoying reading Sophie Jordan’s The Rogue File series for a while… and one of my favourite thing she does with her characters is introduce them in a previous book and then turn your perception of them upside down by the time they get their own story!

Through turn of fate, Charlotte Langley will finally be able to marry her childhood sweetheart and have the quiet life she dreams of… that is until her brother-in-laws rakish half brother shows up and makes her start feeling things… or was that the love potion her sister tricked her into taking? What is she thinking? She has a fiancee!

Kingston is the recognized bastard of a notorious Earl has come to his half-brothers estate to find some peace. He no longer finds enjoyment though vice and is uncertain as to what his future may hold. Until one night he comes across the demur Miss Langley and she shows him a passion that he has never seen before. Now he wants a future with her, but he doesn’t fit onto the plan Charlotte has already laid out for herself.

I adored the character of Kingston. I can’t help loving a reformed rake. Charlotte took more to warm up to, but in the end once she began to look into herself she became very likeable. I devoured this book with great alacrity in my need to see how this love triangle would resolve itself!

As usual, Sophie Jordan delivers a story that grabs you from the begging and compiles you to read just one more page… until the end! This was great a continuation of the series and would be enjoyable read on its own too!

The Virgin and the Rogue by Sophie Jordan is scheduled to release April 26th, 2020.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from HarperCollins Publishers, Avon Books through Edelweiss+. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Art of Taxidermy

by    Sharon Kernot I didn’t know what I was getting when I picked out this book. When I first opened this book and started to read, I was pleasantly surprised. The author, has written this novel in verse and the flow of the writing really goes with and helps tell the story. The Art of Taxidermy tells a gripping and emotional story about love of family and great loss. The themes are woven through the coming of age of young Lottie, along with her immigrant family in Australia after the second world war. I was taken in by this book from the first page and was made to feel deeply for Lottie and this family. Sharon Kernot has written a beautiful book and I can not highly recommend it enough. This is a must read. The Art of Taxidermy by Sharon Kernot is due to release August 23rd, 2019. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Text Publishing Company through NetGalley. The Outlaw's Daughter

The Outlaw’s Daughter Haywire Bride Series #3 by Margaret Brownley ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 A year old stage robbery has brought Texas Ranger, Matt Taggert to the small town of Haywire. While investigating his lead he he discovers that his prime suspect died just days after the stage coach robbery and is the tow’s local hero… not only that, he has left behind a beautiful widow and 2 children. Ellie-May is no stranger to public scorn, as the daughter of an outlaw , she knows what the Rangers accusations against her deceased husband will do to her family and children. For the sake of her family, she will do anything to protect them and that includes keeping secrets and resisting the Rangers charms!  This was fun story. I loved how the romance also included the children because as a mother myself (happily married) I could never imagine being able to separate my love life from that of my family life. A new partner would definitely need to win over the kids along with me!  ...

Here to Stay

Here to Stay by Adriana Herrara ⭐⭐⭐ /5 Adrianna Herraara has a remarkable way of capturing the personality and spirit of her New Yorker characters… even when they aren’t in their native New York! The friendships created and the corresponding camaraderie are what stood out to me the most in this book. It was fun to watch these ex-pat New Yorkers come together in their new home and bond. As for the romance, I found it a bit forced. Julia is on a dating sabbatical and not looking for a man… Rocco is only in Dallas working fro the men trying to cut funding and close Julia’s charitable foundation that she works for. These two should be enemies, but they are friends… the tension between them is pretty high, but they both know they are on opposite sides… I found it unsatisfying… size they were workplace enemies, their friendship muddied the waters. I found it hard to get behind their romance. On another side, I really enjoyed the representation of the charitabl...
