The Summer House

The Summer House

by Jenny Hale

⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5

Its summertime in the Carolinas and Callie Weaver could not be happier to be there! She is making on her dream come true- to own a B&B on the coast of North Carolina. She can hardly believe her luck! Now that she quit her day job and is working on renovations to he B&B, she can’t afford any distractions… especially those of the male variety!

So when local celebrity, Luke Sullivan bumps into her while on an errand and won’t take no for an answer, she realizes it’s going to take a lot to keep her heart out the whatever game playboy Luke is at.

I have loved Jenny Hale’s Christmas romances in the past, so this was a fun twist, being a summer romance. As always, she creates such lovable hero! I just wanted to give Callie nudge a few times and say, “Girls, give him a chance… do NOT let this man get away!” Callie’s character was resistant but not in an obnoxious way… she guards her heart, but she also doles it out a little piece at a time.

This was. Great summer read, I could practically feel the sand on my toes and feel the mist of the ocean as Callie and Luke’s relationship evolves. This book is definitely a must to be included in this years black bags - sexy surfer included!

The Summer House by Jenny Hale was released May 5th, 2020.

First off, this epic second chance romance gave me pure romantic chills that were remittent to reading Jane Austen’s Persuasion. Her beautiful storytelling and detailed descriptions and character building really immersed me into this story and made me root for second chances and love! Childhood neighbours, Devlin Ware and Gwyneth Rhys never know the other felt the same attraction and pull towards the other until the stars aligned at the neighbourhood fete and they finally discover their mutual affection… but they were not mean to be young lovers, since family scandal befalls Devin and he is banished from his family home.  White no where to go and a determination to shed his innocence and become a man, he enlist in a foot regiment… and stays away at war ...

The Gunslinger’s Guide to Avoiding Matrimony

The Gunslinger’s Guide to Avoiding Matrimony By Michelle MacLean ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 The follow up to Michelle MacLean’s Hitched to the Gunslinger, The Gunslinger’s Guide to Avoiding Matrimony is finally here and the citizens of Desolation are up to more shenanigans! Running from the law retired gunslinger/gambler Adam Woodson stumbled upon the town of Desolation. His timing is perfect and he walks right into the mess groom selection/ wedding ceremony for the town and ends up married to spinster Nora. Nora hadn’t planned on picking a groom, but Adam will suit her purpose nicely- she only needs a husband long enough to inherit her property… too bad Adam has no intention of being that husband! Now the rules of Desolation state a man must marry or find a job… so Adam starts trying his hand at all the jobs, while Nora attempts to woo him to sign the marriage papers. In general this is a cute and funny premise, but Adam’s insistence that he can’t/won’t marry is too much. I felt for Nora and her inse...

The Lady Tempts the Heir

The Lady Tempts the Heir The Gilded Age Heiresses, Book #3 by Harper St. George ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5  Max Crenshaw has been summoned back to England for the third time… in the past it was over drama with his sisters and his parents matchmaking schemes… now his father is ill and has his sights set on his legacy. It’s Max’s turn to marry! But Max isn’t going to just heed his father’s demands- he’s his own man and it’s a modern (Gilded) age! Solution: he will find a fake fiancée to cease his threats. His sisters friend, whom he had a shared experience with, the widowed Lady Helena March would be perfect! Just what his father wants and bonus-she’s not interested in marriage either! Ah, the old fake engagement! I suggest choosing someone you don’t actually like if you don’t want to end up married for real in the end! I jest! Max and Helena make a perfect pairing… so perfect the only thing that seems to be keeping them from actually being engaged in truth is the long distanced nature of ...
