The Wedding Date Disaster

The Wedding Date Disaster

by Avery Flynn

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5

Twin brothers Will and Web have been switching places since they were kids… so when Web gets sick right before leaving to be his best friends plus one at her sisters out of town wedding, it seems like the perfect idea to send his brother Will in his place! Except Will and Hadley have been at each others throats since the day they met… how will they ever pull off the illusion of being a couple if they can’t be in the same room without heated looks and insults?!?!

Miles away from Harbour City, Will agrees to give it his best shot to fool Hadley’s family… as long as she agrees to leave his wealthy brother alone after all of this. Hadley and Will are faced together in different situations allowing the heated looks they share to turn into sparks! Soon this fake relationship isn’t feeling too fake anymore and they wonder if when they return home they can keep this up?

The banter between Will and Hadley was fun to read and the side characters added a lot of flavour to the book! Hadley’s family was unique and made me want to be at the wedding week festivities along side them playing cutthroat Scrabble! I’d love to revisit this cast of characters again to see an HEA for either Will’s brother or one of Hadley’s siblings.

Enemies to lovers, best friends brother, fake relationship… this book is the trifecta of all the best tropes.

Fans of The Hating Game and The Worst Best Man will love this book!

The Art of Taxidermy

by    Sharon Kernot I didn’t know what I was getting when I picked out this book. When I first opened this book and started to read, I was pleasantly surprised. The author, has written this novel in verse and the flow of the writing really goes with and helps tell the story. The Art of Taxidermy tells a gripping and emotional story about love of family and great loss. The themes are woven through the coming of age of young Lottie, along with her immigrant family in Australia after the second world war. I was taken in by this book from the first page and was made to feel deeply for Lottie and this family. Sharon Kernot has written a beautiful book and I can not highly recommend it enough. This is a must read. The Art of Taxidermy by Sharon Kernot is due to release August 23rd, 2019. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Text Publishing Company through NetGalley. The Outlaw's Daughter

The Outlaw’s Daughter Haywire Bride Series #3 by Margaret Brownley ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 A year old stage robbery has brought Texas Ranger, Matt Taggert to the small town of Haywire. While investigating his lead he he discovers that his prime suspect died just days after the stage coach robbery and is the tow’s local hero… not only that, he has left behind a beautiful widow and 2 children. Ellie-May is no stranger to public scorn, as the daughter of an outlaw , she knows what the Rangers accusations against her deceased husband will do to her family and children. For the sake of her family, she will do anything to protect them and that includes keeping secrets and resisting the Rangers charms!  This was fun story. I loved how the romance also included the children because as a mother myself (happily married) I could never imagine being able to separate my love life from that of my family life. A new partner would definitely need to win over the kids along with me!  ...

Here to Stay

Here to Stay by Adriana Herrara ⭐⭐⭐ /5 Adrianna Herraara has a remarkable way of capturing the personality and spirit of her New Yorker characters… even when they aren’t in their native New York! The friendships created and the corresponding camaraderie are what stood out to me the most in this book. It was fun to watch these ex-pat New Yorkers come together in their new home and bond. As for the romance, I found it a bit forced. Julia is on a dating sabbatical and not looking for a man… Rocco is only in Dallas working fro the men trying to cut funding and close Julia’s charitable foundation that she works for. These two should be enemies, but they are friends… the tension between them is pretty high, but they both know they are on opposite sides… I found it unsatisfying… size they were workplace enemies, their friendship muddied the waters. I found it hard to get behind their romance. On another side, I really enjoyed the representation of the charitabl...
