Reunited on Dragonfly Lane

Sweet Water Springs, Book 7

by Annie Rains

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5

It appears that everyone in Sweet Water Springs has found their happily ever after! Or at least this is the last one we will get, since this is the final instalment of the series.

I may have come into the series later than others, but the characters and love stories that Annie Raines has created in this fictional town have completely captivated me and Chase and Sophie were no exception from that rule!

A chance accident has Sophie hitting a puppy with her car on the way to a friends wedding… thankfully Sweet Water Springs is a small town and the local vet, also in route to the wedding pulls over to help… not so thankfully when said veterinarian is your ex high school sweetheart that you have been avoiding since his return to town!

Now with a healing puppy linking their fates, Chase and Sophie take this opportunity to see if a second chance at love is in the cards for them…

With many years and differences between their teenage selfie and the people they are now, can they forge a new past ahead while dealing with old baggage and resentments?

Maybe a second chance isn’t enough?!?!

I Love How Annie Rains jumps us right into the story and our characters histories. She doesn’t pull any punches and lays all their faults and issues out for the reader. But she also sweetens the deal by showing in all our favourite characters and bring the romance to us pretty quickly in this book. No slow burn here! I loved  that these two very deserving characters found their way back together and found a way past the personal hurdles that were blocking them from happiness as well.

I’m sad that this is the end for Sweet Water Springs, but excited for the next series that was hinted at in the book!

This is the 7th book in the series, but the love story told can totally stand on its own if you have not read any of the series before.

Reunited on Dragonfly Lane by Annie Rains is scheduled to release January 26th, 2021.

The Art of Taxidermy

by    Sharon Kernot I didn’t know what I was getting when I picked out this book. When I first opened this book and started to read, I was pleasantly surprised. The author, has written this novel in verse and the flow of the writing really goes with and helps tell the story. The Art of Taxidermy tells a gripping and emotional story about love of family and great loss. The themes are woven through the coming of age of young Lottie, along with her immigrant family in Australia after the second world war. I was taken in by this book from the first page and was made to feel deeply for Lottie and this family. Sharon Kernot has written a beautiful book and I can not highly recommend it enough. This is a must read. The Art of Taxidermy by Sharon Kernot is due to release August 23rd, 2019. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Text Publishing Company through NetGalley. The Outlaw's Daughter

The Outlaw’s Daughter Haywire Bride Series #3 by Margaret Brownley ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 A year old stage robbery has brought Texas Ranger, Matt Taggert to the small town of Haywire. While investigating his lead he he discovers that his prime suspect died just days after the stage coach robbery and is the tow’s local hero… not only that, he has left behind a beautiful widow and 2 children. Ellie-May is no stranger to public scorn, as the daughter of an outlaw , she knows what the Rangers accusations against her deceased husband will do to her family and children. For the sake of her family, she will do anything to protect them and that includes keeping secrets and resisting the Rangers charms!  This was fun story. I loved how the romance also included the children because as a mother myself (happily married) I could never imagine being able to separate my love life from that of my family life. A new partner would definitely need to win over the kids along with me!  ...

Here to Stay

Here to Stay by Adriana Herrara ⭐⭐⭐ /5 Adrianna Herraara has a remarkable way of capturing the personality and spirit of her New Yorker characters… even when they aren’t in their native New York! The friendships created and the corresponding camaraderie are what stood out to me the most in this book. It was fun to watch these ex-pat New Yorkers come together in their new home and bond. As for the romance, I found it a bit forced. Julia is on a dating sabbatical and not looking for a man… Rocco is only in Dallas working fro the men trying to cut funding and close Julia’s charitable foundation that she works for. These two should be enemies, but they are friends… the tension between them is pretty high, but they both know they are on opposite sides… I found it unsatisfying… size they were workplace enemies, their friendship muddied the waters. I found it hard to get behind their romance. On another side, I really enjoyed the representation of the charitabl...
