Someday My Duke Will Come

Someday My Duke Will Come

Isle of Synne Series: Book 2

by Christina Britton

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5

Look out! There’s a new duke in town!

We are introduced to the Quincy Nesbitt in the last book as the friend and business partner of the Duke of Dane. Before setting out to see the world after making his fortune, Quincy decides to see his friend the duke again and try to make amends with his estranged mother and brothers…

The visit with Dane goes well, but when he finally visits his ancestral home, he discovers that all three of his brothers have died and he is now the Duke of Reigate!

Quincy never planned on becoming the duke and now his whole world is turned upside down! Making matters worse, his mother is as terrible to him as ever… the only bright side is the intervention the Lady Clara gives him in the form of a fake engagement. This arrangement allows him the pleasure of his company while, keeps his mother from foisting a bride him and stops Lady Claras well meaning relatives from their matchmaking! Everyone wins! That is until their feelings get into the mix and their pasts rear up.

What a delightful story! I love a rakish hero and Quincy definitely fits the bill. After meeting him in the prior book, I loved getting the in-depth reveal of his past. Another repeat character, Lady Clara was developed well and was easy to relate to.

I loved the chemistry between these two and the way the author developed their relationship while she unravels their past. This was an excellent read and I highly recommend it to fans of historical romance!

A Good Duke Is Hard to Find by Christina Britton is scheduled to release January 12th, 2021.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Gunslinger’s Guide to Avoiding Matrimony By Michelle MacLean ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 The follow up to Michelle MacLean’s Hitched to the Gunslinger, The Gunslinger’s Guide to Avoiding Matrimony is finally here and the citizens of Desolation are up to more shenanigans! Running from the law retired gunslinger/gambler Adam Woodson stumbled upon the town of Desolation. His timing is perfect and he walks right into the mess groom selection/ wedding ceremony for the town and ends up married to spinster Nora. Nora hadn’t planned on picking a groom, but Adam will suit her purpose nicely- she only needs a husband long enough to inherit her property… too bad Adam has no intention of being that husband! Now the rules of Desolation state a man must marry or find a job… so Adam starts trying his hand at all the jobs, while Nora attempts to woo him to sign the marriage papers. In general this is a cute and funny premise, but Adam’s insistence that he can’t/won’t marry is too much. I felt for Nora and her inse...
