Scoundrel of My Heart

Scoundrel of My Heart

Once Upon a Dukedom, Book #1

by Lorraine Heath

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

She’s his sisters best friend and the girl he has been obsessed with forever… He’s her best friends younger brother, who has teased her for as long as she can remember.

She needs to marry a titled gentleman. He isn’t good enough for her.

This new series picks up with Lord Griffith Stanwick, whom we meet as Griff in the last book of the Sin for All Seasons series, Beauty Tempts the Beast, where his sister is working in a tavern and meets Benedict Truelove. This books gives the backstory on the Stanwick family’s fall from grace.

We start with a mild flirtation between Lord Griffin and Lady Kathryn. They have recently stopped being at odds with each other and Lord Griffin has even declared that he would help Lady Kathryn win the much sought after Duke on the market this season. Working together they both feel an obvious attraction and they both share their hopes and dreams to each other, but Lord Griffin is just a scapegrace second son and Lady Kathryn requires a lord with a title to received her inheritance.

Soon Lord Griffin’s assistance pays off and Lady Kathryn is chosen to court the duke… Lord Griffin doesn’t have much time to second guess his assistance because that very night the males of his family are arrested fro treason. Soon all he has known is taken away, even his curtesy title. He is just Griff now.

Time passes and changes both Griff and Lady Kathryn. Griff is inspired to make his dreams of a singles nightclub come to fruition and he believes Lady Kathryn is living her dream… until she walks into his club and the sparks light up between them again!

Oh wow! The angst between these two was palpable throughout Heath’s masterly storytelling. I was captured by the drama of the events unfolding and moved by the lengths Griff would go to help Lady Kathryn attain her dream. This was an excellent series start with so much potential in the fascinating side characters! I loved seeing the Truelove family again altogether and happy. I experienced so many emotions reading this book!

Lorrain Heath is a master of mixing the grit and glitter of Victorian London! This series is something you do not want to miss!

Scoundrel of My Heart by Lorraine Heath is scheduled to release March 30th, 2021.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from HarperCollins Publishers, Avon Books through Edelweiss+. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Remember Love

Remember Love Ravenswood series, Book 1 by Mary Balogh ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Historical romance queen, Mary Balogh introduces us to another brilliant extended family and reminds up to remember love in one swoop with this series opener! First off, this epic second chance romance gave me pure romantic chills that were remittent to reading Jane Austen’s Persuasion. Her beautiful storytelling and detailed descriptions and character building really immersed me into this story and made me root for second chances and love! Childhood neighbours, Devlin Ware and Gwyneth Rhys never know the other felt the same attraction and pull towards the other until the stars aligned at the neighbourhood fete and they finally discover their mutual affection… but they were not mean to be young lovers, since family scandal befalls Devin and he is banished from his family home.  White no where to go and a determination to shed his innocence and become a man, he enlist in a foot regiment… and stays away at war ...

White Knight Needed

White Knight Needed Reluctant Heroes, Book 2 by Betina Krahn ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Barclay Howard is bigger and burlier than your average gentleman… and thus he has found himself to be somewhat of an antidote to the fairer sex. As a result he is more often found behind the pages of his Ivanhoe novel than out and about attempting to court a fair lady. But when his path crosses with down on her luck Norah Capshaw, his white knight complex rises up to make him go above and beyond again and again to be her hero… even though she is incredibly reluctant to the idea! This was a fun adventure romance filled with roadside hijinks, and a family mystery. Barclay was a perfect hero in this book. He was always there offering support and rescue to Norah. On the other side Norah’s resistance of Barclay and his efforts was the only wet blanket on this otherwise delightfully sweet romance!   Overall, this is my second Betina Kran book and I find her writing very light hearted and action packed. A Duke for Miss Townsbridge

A Duke for Miss Townsbridge The Townsbridges, Book 4 by Sophie Barnes ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Sophie Barnes is a master at the novella! Every time I read one of her novellas, it is just perfect! Characters that are developed and graphics you, quick flowing plots to move the story and an ending to delight! As a duke, Matthew believes he should be able to marry anyone he decides on… and he decides that the perfect bride to fit into his unconventional life is his neighbour, Sarah. Since Sarah has never even met Mathew before his proposal, she decides that a courtship is needed before she make up her mind! I was was immediately invested in the non-traditional courtship between nearly on the shelf Sarah, and her reclusive duke for a neighbour Matthew. The determination and genuine personalities of both characters carries this book off effortlessly and would leave me wanting for more if the story had not been finished up so neatly! I adore a good romance novella and liken it to the perfect bite ...
