The Wrong Marquess

The Wrong Marquess

The Mating Habits of Scoundrels, Book #3

by Vivienne Lorret

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

At the age of 25, and on the verge of spinsterhood, Elodie is not concerned. She has had an agreement with her neighbour and friend since shared tragedy in their youth formed a bond between the. All she has to do is continue waiting for George to be done sowing his wild oats and be ready to move on into married life.

This wait would be a lot more bearable if the odious and overbearing Marquess of Hullworth would stop crossing her path…. Sure sh’s become good friends with his sister, but the feeling he evokes inside her are too much for her to bare! Strangley enough, Bandon, Lord Hullworth is also the only one who seems to know what to do to remedy these feelings… a few kisses between friends won’t hurt anyone…

That is until Elodie is at a crossroads between the comfort and familiarity she knows with Greoge and the passion and excitement she is now craving with Brandon!

This love triangle was an absolute delight to watch unravel. Sweet innocent Elodie’s experience of passion was a sensual delight shared with the audience. Brandon’s transformation form arrogant bachelor Marquess to love sick pup doing what anything he can to win the girl was spot on. Even George, the self indulgent aristocrat provided some comedic relief and a good contrast to Bandon.

I was hooked on this story form the first few pages, the tension, attraction and passion throughout this book made it hard to put down! I can not recommend this story enough!

Thought this is the third book in a series, it can be read as a standalone. The story does build upon itself from the first book though, so if you have the chance, this whole series is worth the read!

The Wrong Marquess by Vivienne Lorret is scheduled to release June 29th, 2021.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from HarperCollins Publishers, Avon Books through Edelweiss+. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Art of Taxidermy

by    Sharon Kernot I didn’t know what I was getting when I picked out this book. When I first opened this book and started to read, I was pleasantly surprised. The author, has written this novel in verse and the flow of the writing really goes with and helps tell the story. The Art of Taxidermy tells a gripping and emotional story about love of family and great loss. The themes are woven through the coming of age of young Lottie, along with her immigrant family in Australia after the second world war. I was taken in by this book from the first page and was made to feel deeply for Lottie and this family. Sharon Kernot has written a beautiful book and I can not highly recommend it enough. This is a must read. The Art of Taxidermy by Sharon Kernot is due to release August 23rd, 2019. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Text Publishing Company through NetGalley. The Outlaw's Daughter

The Outlaw’s Daughter Haywire Bride Series #3 by Margaret Brownley ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 A year old stage robbery has brought Texas Ranger, Matt Taggert to the small town of Haywire. While investigating his lead he he discovers that his prime suspect died just days after the stage coach robbery and is the tow’s local hero… not only that, he has left behind a beautiful widow and 2 children. Ellie-May is no stranger to public scorn, as the daughter of an outlaw , she knows what the Rangers accusations against her deceased husband will do to her family and children. For the sake of her family, she will do anything to protect them and that includes keeping secrets and resisting the Rangers charms!  This was fun story. I loved how the romance also included the children because as a mother myself (happily married) I could never imagine being able to separate my love life from that of my family life. A new partner would definitely need to win over the kids along with me!  ...

Here to Stay

Here to Stay by Adriana Herrara ⭐⭐⭐ /5 Adrianna Herraara has a remarkable way of capturing the personality and spirit of her New Yorker characters… even when they aren’t in their native New York! The friendships created and the corresponding camaraderie are what stood out to me the most in this book. It was fun to watch these ex-pat New Yorkers come together in their new home and bond. As for the romance, I found it a bit forced. Julia is on a dating sabbatical and not looking for a man… Rocco is only in Dallas working fro the men trying to cut funding and close Julia’s charitable foundation that she works for. These two should be enemies, but they are friends… the tension between them is pretty high, but they both know they are on opposite sides… I found it unsatisfying… size they were workplace enemies, their friendship muddied the waters. I found it hard to get behind their romance. On another side, I really enjoyed the representation of the charitabl...
