Battle Royale

Palace Insiders, Book #1

by Lucy Parker

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Am I a huge fan of Lucy Parker??? Yes!!!

Did I love this book??? You bet!!!

Lucy Parker is back with a new series and a new pair of enemies to lovers. Sylvie made an personal enemy of Dominic when her cake exploded in his face, while he was judging it on the popular Operation Cake reality show a few years ago. Fast forward to today and they are rival cake makers with shops across the street from each other and new co-workers as Sylvie joins the illustrious Operation Cake judging panel this season! To add to the drama, at the same time a royal engagement makes them rivals as they both fight for the contract of contracts!

As I have come to expect, Parker has delivered these enemies to us on a silver platter and we reader so not have to wait long for thinks to start heating up in the kitchen! Sylvie and Dominic are both such sweethearts at their cores that their increased exposure to each other naturally opens them up to the possibilities of romance. These two were made for each other and I loved every moment of their courtship, especially when Dom cares for a sick Sylvie- swoon!

The romance is not all this book has going for it, the side characters are absolute treasures and the Operation Cake drama is a hoot!

This book was delicious and I cont recommend it or Lucy Parker’s other works enough!

Battle Royale by Lucy Parker is scheduled to release August 24th, 2021.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from HarperCollins Publishers, Avon Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Remember Love

Remember Love Ravenswood series, Book 1 by Mary Balogh ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Historical romance queen, Mary Balogh introduces us to another brilliant extended family and reminds up to remember love in one swoop with this series opener! First off, this epic second chance romance gave me pure romantic chills that were remittent to reading Jane Austen’s Persuasion. Her beautiful storytelling and detailed descriptions and character building really immersed me into this story and made me root for second chances and love! Childhood neighbours, Devlin Ware and Gwyneth Rhys never know the other felt the same attraction and pull towards the other until the stars aligned at the neighbourhood fete and they finally discover their mutual affection… but they were not mean to be young lovers, since family scandal befalls Devin and he is banished from his family home.  White no where to go and a determination to shed his innocence and become a man, he enlist in a foot regiment… and stays away at war ...

The Gunslinger’s Guide to Avoiding Matrimony

The Gunslinger’s Guide to Avoiding Matrimony By Michelle MacLean ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 The follow up to Michelle MacLean’s Hitched to the Gunslinger, The Gunslinger’s Guide to Avoiding Matrimony is finally here and the citizens of Desolation are up to more shenanigans! Running from the law retired gunslinger/gambler Adam Woodson stumbled upon the town of Desolation. His timing is perfect and he walks right into the mess groom selection/ wedding ceremony for the town and ends up married to spinster Nora. Nora hadn’t planned on picking a groom, but Adam will suit her purpose nicely- she only needs a husband long enough to inherit her property… too bad Adam has no intention of being that husband! Now the rules of Desolation state a man must marry or find a job… so Adam starts trying his hand at all the jobs, while Nora attempts to woo him to sign the marriage papers. In general this is a cute and funny premise, but Adam’s insistence that he can’t/won’t marry is too much. I felt for Nora and her inse...

The Lady Tempts the Heir

The Lady Tempts the Heir The Gilded Age Heiresses, Book #3 by Harper St. George ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5  Max Crenshaw has been summoned back to England for the third time… in the past it was over drama with his sisters and his parents matchmaking schemes… now his father is ill and has his sights set on his legacy. It’s Max’s turn to marry! But Max isn’t going to just heed his father’s demands- he’s his own man and it’s a modern (Gilded) age! Solution: he will find a fake fiancée to cease his threats. His sisters friend, whom he had a shared experience with, the widowed Lady Helena March would be perfect! Just what his father wants and bonus-she’s not interested in marriage either! Ah, the old fake engagement! I suggest choosing someone you don’t actually like if you don’t want to end up married for real in the end! I jest! Max and Helena make a perfect pairing… so perfect the only thing that seems to be keeping them from actually being engaged in truth is the long distanced nature of ...
