Intolerable

Intolerable

The Pheonix Club, Book 3

by Darcy Burke

⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5

Intolerable is the third book in the Phoenix Club series and tells the much awaited story of Cassandra, Phoenix Club owner’s sister and his best friend and founding member, the Earl of Wexford.

Wexford is a rogue and has made a vow not to marry for at least another 3 years… so why does he keep kissing his best friends sister every time they are alone?!?

This book had all the secret angst of forbidden attraction between these two as they sneak around while also trying to deny their true feelings for each other. Sparks fly all over the page and in many different contexts in this fun read!!

After seeing these two as supporting characters in the past two books, I felt a real kinship with them and found myself totally invested in their relationship. We found and Cassandra both drove me nuts at times with their stubbornness, but that’s to be expected when you’re rooting for your friends to finally see the light and make a go of their relationship!

I think I’m becoming as addicted to the Phoenix Club as it’s members!

Intolerable by Darcy Burke was released October 19th, 2021.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Remember Love

Remember Love Ravenswood series, Book 1 by Mary Balogh ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Historical romance queen, Mary Balogh introduces us to another brilliant extended family and reminds up to remember love in one swoop with this series opener! First off, this epic second chance romance gave me pure romantic chills that were remittent to reading Jane Austen’s Persuasion. Her beautiful storytelling and detailed descriptions and character building really immersed me into this story and made me root for second chances and love! Childhood neighbours, Devlin Ware and Gwyneth Rhys never know the other felt the same attraction and pull towards the other until the stars aligned at the neighbourhood fete and they finally discover their mutual affection… but they were not mean to be young lovers, since family scandal befalls Devin and he is banished from his family home.  White no where to go and a determination to shed his innocence and become a man, he enlist in a foot regiment… and stays away at war ...

The Gunslinger’s Guide to Avoiding Matrimony

The Gunslinger’s Guide to Avoiding Matrimony By Michelle MacLean ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 The follow up to Michelle MacLean’s Hitched to the Gunslinger, The Gunslinger’s Guide to Avoiding Matrimony is finally here and the citizens of Desolation are up to more shenanigans! Running from the law retired gunslinger/gambler Adam Woodson stumbled upon the town of Desolation. His timing is perfect and he walks right into the mess groom selection/ wedding ceremony for the town and ends up married to spinster Nora. Nora hadn’t planned on picking a groom, but Adam will suit her purpose nicely- she only needs a husband long enough to inherit her property… too bad Adam has no intention of being that husband! Now the rules of Desolation state a man must marry or find a job… so Adam starts trying his hand at all the jobs, while Nora attempts to woo him to sign the marriage papers. In general this is a cute and funny premise, but Adam’s insistence that he can’t/won’t marry is too much. I felt for Nora and her inse...

The Lady Tempts the Heir

The Lady Tempts the Heir The Gilded Age Heiresses, Book #3 by Harper St. George ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5  Max Crenshaw has been summoned back to England for the third time… in the past it was over drama with his sisters and his parents matchmaking schemes… now his father is ill and has his sights set on his legacy. It’s Max’s turn to marry! But Max isn’t going to just heed his father’s demands- he’s his own man and it’s a modern (Gilded) age! Solution: he will find a fake fiancée to cease his threats. His sisters friend, whom he had a shared experience with, the widowed Lady Helena March would be perfect! Just what his father wants and bonus-she’s not interested in marriage either! Ah, the old fake engagement! I suggest choosing someone you don’t actually like if you don’t want to end up married for real in the end! I jest! Max and Helena make a perfect pairing… so perfect the only thing that seems to be keeping them from actually being engaged in truth is the long distanced nature of ...
