Sandcastle Beach

A Matchmaker Bay Novel, Book 3

by Jenny Holiday

⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5

We return to Moonflower Bay to find Maya and Law still at each other with barbs and pranks as they settle in for another tourist season.

Both Maya and Law have their businesses on their minds, Maya needing to find a way to keep her community theatre running with less grant money and Law looking into expanding upon his bar offerings by looking into opening a restaurant. When a new community minded grant opportunity arises that fits both of their needs, Maya and Law find themselves as rivals and in each others company a lot more as they prove their worthiness for the grant!

If you have been reading the Matchmaker Bay series from the beginning, these two have been at it from the start! Their barbs and pranks alway part of the Matchmaker Bay ethos. I really enjoyed seeing their interactions from their point of view and getting the history behind their epic feud.

This is definitely a slow burn romance. I had bought with the history of the feud that we would have got to e sparks faster, but we are Brough though the slow process of Law wearing away at Maya’s dislike. She is a tough nut to crack! I was impressed by Law’s consistency and subtle kindness that he showed her throughout, even in the face of her strong dislike.

Like all good enemies to lovers plots, once these two finally connect it was electric! I will admit I was rooting for Law to break down Maya’s walls from the get go. He was a delicious hero, even when Maya didn’t want him to be. I was especially pleased with his heroics at the end of the book! I loved how he saw Maya as an equal and respected her work and what she Brough to the community.

One can not talk about a Matchmaker Bay book without talking about the rest of the gang! I loved how our story starts in the same time period as the ending of Paradise Cove with some fun overlaps! Seeing Eve, Sawyer, Nora and Jake was a delight! I loved this group of friends and it was a please to see them all again.

This was a good read and I feel that enough backstory is given that a new reader could jump in to the series here… but the other books were also great- so read them all!

Remember Love

Remember Love Ravenswood series, Book 1 by Mary Balogh ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Historical romance queen, Mary Balogh introduces us to another brilliant extended family and reminds up to remember love in one swoop with this series opener! First off, this epic second chance romance gave me pure romantic chills that were remittent to reading Jane Austen’s Persuasion. Her beautiful storytelling and detailed descriptions and character building really immersed me into this story and made me root for second chances and love! Childhood neighbours, Devlin Ware and Gwyneth Rhys never know the other felt the same attraction and pull towards the other until the stars aligned at the neighbourhood fete and they finally discover their mutual affection… but they were not mean to be young lovers, since family scandal befalls Devin and he is banished from his family home.  White no where to go and a determination to shed his innocence and become a man, he enlist in a foot regiment… and stays away at war ...

White Knight Needed

White Knight Needed Reluctant Heroes, Book 2 by Betina Krahn ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Barclay Howard is bigger and burlier than your average gentleman… and thus he has found himself to be somewhat of an antidote to the fairer sex. As a result he is more often found behind the pages of his Ivanhoe novel than out and about attempting to court a fair lady. But when his path crosses with down on her luck Norah Capshaw, his white knight complex rises up to make him go above and beyond again and again to be her hero… even though she is incredibly reluctant to the idea! This was a fun adventure romance filled with roadside hijinks, and a family mystery. Barclay was a perfect hero in this book. He was always there offering support and rescue to Norah. On the other side Norah’s resistance of Barclay and his efforts was the only wet blanket on this otherwise delightfully sweet romance!   Overall, this is my second Betina Kran book and I find her writing very light hearted and action packed. A Duke for Miss Townsbridge

A Duke for Miss Townsbridge The Townsbridges, Book 4 by Sophie Barnes ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 Sophie Barnes is a master at the novella! Every time I read one of her novellas, it is just perfect! Characters that are developed and graphics you, quick flowing plots to move the story and an ending to delight! As a duke, Matthew believes he should be able to marry anyone he decides on… and he decides that the perfect bride to fit into his unconventional life is his neighbour, Sarah. Since Sarah has never even met Mathew before his proposal, she decides that a courtship is needed before she make up her mind! I was was immediately invested in the non-traditional courtship between nearly on the shelf Sarah, and her reclusive duke for a neighbour Matthew. The determination and genuine personalities of both characters carries this book off effortlessly and would leave me wanting for more if the story had not been finished up so neatly! I adore a good romance novella and liken it to the perfect bite ...
